Kung Fu Panda is a 2008 American computer-animated action comedy martial arts film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The movie was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, and written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, with Adam B. Stern serving as executive producer. It stars Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross.
Set in China, the movie tells of Po (Black), an obese panda who contemplates fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a kung fu master when he unexpectedly gets chosen to become the Dragon Warrior. To do so, he must defeat Kai (Hoffman), an evil warrior peacock who wishes to destroy kung fu. Filming began in October 2006 and ended two months later; animators visited China to research all aspects of Chinese culture that would be depicted in the movie.
